ABOUT
I have been painting, drawing and striving to create ‘art’ for as long as I can remember, probably since I could first hold a pencil or crayon. I couldn’t tell you what ‘art’ is though. Is it literally ‘artistry’, an acquired skill that requires years of dedicated practise to develop an innate ability into something more polished, like working to become a concert pianist? Or is it something altogether more esoteric and nuanced? Or all/none of these things?
The paintings and drawings here are my way of interrogating these loose thoughts, whilst also exploring the world about me from observation. The results are all what is generally defined as ‘figurative’, in particular I am interested in portraiture, painting and drawing from life, and landscape.
