This is where the Martians landed in HG Wells’ ‘The War of the Worlds’ – I can see the attraction!
Oil on board, 15cm x 30cm Painting plein air in the UK means contending with some sort of adverse weather: too hot, too cold, wind, rain, sun in and then out… this particular day it was all those things. Sometimes the dome of St Pauls was pearly white, sometimes it was dark grey.
This pond is very close to home and it takes on a different character with every season and weather, so makes for a great subject.
